Traveling is one of my favorite pastimes. There was a time when I traveled for a living, and the documentation of those adventures was partially what led me to be a professional photographer. Now that wedding photography makes up the majority of my photography business, traveling – similar to my step-son’s adventures – has become an impetus to pick up the camera… just for fun and creativity. Of late travel photography has become more about the macro aspects of what I see in the world with the odd landscape to keep me in touch with where my photography passion began.
As the winter months droll on in the beautiful state of Vermont I am once again presented with the age old question of what lenses to bring for tomorrow’s departure to points south. Such indecision is a pretty good problem to have… actually it’s a really good problem to have. I have become enamored with black and white photographs of late. Perhaps it is a metaphor for where I am in my life. Not that my life is black and white… quite the contrary it is more full of color than it has been in a very long time. Be that as it may, I’ve learned that some things you have to be pretty black and white on, and somehow it’s creating an inspiration that is coming through the lens, I am enjoying it… I hope you are too.
